The goodest boy. Ever.
Diagnosed just over six weeks ago with renal failure, Carbon was determined to live the remainder of his life just as he always had. But on Friday, he asked us to help him on his journey to join all of those amazing dogs that had gone before him.
Our hearts are shattered once again.
The last remaining Cooper son in our kennel, Carbon was aptly named because he really was the image of his sire. He and Caleb very quickly became best buddies and spent hours upon hours digging together and having adventures.
Carbon was never naughty. That would have been beneath him. He was an old soul who had the most amazing nature and I can honestly say that he never had a cross word for anyone. A true gentleman of the dog world.
In harness Carbon was absolutely amazing. He didn't care what position he ran in and did exactly what was asked of him no matter what. Never dropped from a race and never injured. His true calling, just like his dad, was as a single dog where he relished the ability to open up and just do his thing.
There are many trophies and ribbons that have Carbon's name on them but probably his best achievements were his pups, grandpups and great grandpups who he absolutely adored and spent his retirement years nurturing. As always, calmly and gently.
Carbon we are devastated that you are gone and it's going to take a lifetime to come to terms with your passing. You were the goodest boy and we love you. Always and forever.
