14 years, 9 months and 9 days. I really thought you would live forever Jonty boy.
Where do you start with telling the story about a legend? A dog that from the very beginning was destined to do great things and take life by the balls. A dog that relished being challenged and who challenged all of us.
Jonty was bred by our dear friend Natalie of TseekaSpirit Siberians. He was old school lines and the son of Alaskan’s Max Factor of Anadyr.
At nine months of age he ran his first ever race with Spike in touring class at the snow - they won. That was the start of many many wins for Jonty who from the very beginning was a command leader and huge force in our team. Andrew and Jonty developed an unwritten language. They knew what each other needed and wanted. A relationship that is special and cherished and one in which the utmost respect and trust was given.
Jonty absolutely adored puppies. Not just his pups, every pup! They all belonged to him and Jonty became the ultimate puppy sitter. He only sired one litter - and that’s a real shame - and his sons Roary and Drifter joined us here at Idigadog. Grandkids, great grandkids and now great great grandkids are scattered throughout Australia and New Zealand and if they are half the dogs in harness that Jonty was, then they will be awesome.
There is a huge hole in our hearts right now. It feels heavy and it hurts. The kennel doesn’t feel the same. Andrew, Caleb and I owe a huge debt to Nat for letting Jonty come into our lives and hearts all those years ago.
Farewell old man. You were such a jerk but we loved and adored you. Always 💜
