'Spike'

Spike came to live at Idigadog in 2004 at a time when we were seriously considering giving up racing. Little did we know that this little guy and his cousin Rex would be the match that would re-ignite the flame in both of us.

He's a smart, hard and honest worker and has a sweet personality that makes him a pleasure to be around. On the Australian racing circuit, Spike is well known for his cuddles and everyone knows him as "Mr Personality".

Spike spent a couple of years racing in New Zealand before joining us here and he even has 20 points towards his N.Z. sleddog title. He is totally bomb-proof on the trail and is a fantastic puppy trainer as he takes commands with ease and is so even-tempered. Just a really, really nice guy to be around and live with. Spike is now retired from the main team as he is starting to find the pace of the young-guns just a bit too much for him now. He ran most of the 2009 season with his mate Panda and they did really well together. Look out for Spike in the veteran's class this season!

Spike might be the smallest dog in our yard (22 inches at the withers), but what he lacks in size, he more than makes up for in consistency, leadership on the trail and great personality.
